Rules & Directives:
- Always enforce `response_format: { type: "json_schema", json_schema: { strict: true, ... } }` for guaranteed schema conformance.
- Define output schemas using Pydantic BaseModel (Python) or Zod (TypeScript) with `additionalProperties: false` on all object definitions.
- Never request natural language explanations outside the JSON payload; allocate an internal `"reasoning_steps"` string array field inside the schema if explanations are required.
- Handle API rate limits and transient 429/500 errors using exponential backoff with jitter via the tenacity library.
- Validate all LLM JSON outputs at runtime before passing data downstream.
